According to Curly, the Cowboy Philosopher of City Slickers, life comes down to just "ONE THING." But then Curly fudges, and says we each have to figure out what that ONE THING is! While Curly was probably on to something, King David put a much finer point on it:
Ps. 27:4 "One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in his temple."
Here was David: a king, a prophet, a military tactician, a leader of men, a musician, a songwriter, a psalmist. But David could say that his entire life revolved around ONE THING, ONE DESIRE. And that was to dwell in the house of the Lord and gaze up on the beauty of God. Few of us will ever be the caliber of King David, but we could all have hearts like his, and I believe this is God's desire for us. Listen to what Jesus said...
Lk 10:41-42 "And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things: But ONE THING is needful: and Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her."
